Wetlab: Versorgung von Augenverletzungen / Treatment of eye injuries

Topics: Primary care of anterior and posterior segment injuries


Both wet labs are identical as regards topics and content.


After one hour of theory, the participants will practice different techniques for wound reconstructions, the internal reconstruction of iris defects with McCannel sutures and the removal of intraocular foreign bodies from the anterior and posterior segment. If one has already some skills in cataract surgery he may try the transscleral fixation of intraocular implants.


Contrary to most other wetlabs each participant will have the opportunity to practice for the whole time.

Verletzungen der vorderen und hinteren Augenabschnitte

Beide Wet-Labs sind thematisch und inhaltlich identisch. Der Teilnehmer wird nach theoretischer Einführung Nahttechniken zur Wundversorgung und zur internen Rekonstruktion von Irisdefekten sowie die Fremdkörper-bergung aus dem Vorder- und Hinterabschnitt üben. Sollten bereits Vorkenntnisse in der Katarakt-chirurgie vorliegen, wird es auch möglich sein, IOL-Implantate transskleral einzunähen.


Im Unterschied zu anderen Wetlabs, bei denen sich zwei Teilnehmer einen Arbeitsplatz teilen, wird hier jeder Teilnehmer die vollen drei Stunden zum Operieren zur Verfügung haben.




Wet-Lab A: 10:00 Uhr -14 Uhr

10.00 am to 11:00 am theory

11.00 am 2.00 pm (operative wet lab)

Course: Counseling the trauma patient

Topics: Based upon case presentations, typical decisions during

the primary and secondary care of ocular injuries will be

discussed
